122 Days.

I bought my plane ticket. I think this is the point in the game when I can legitimately say, "Yes, I'm officially moving to Santiago, Chile."  It's strange to think that I'm really going.

In the evening of January 26th, 2011, I'm boarding a plane and heading for Argentina.

Four months from today, Lace and I are setting off to explore Northern/Central Argentina from Buenos Aires to finally ending in Santiago, Chile for two weeks.  I'm a little speechless.... I'm really going to South America.

So right now, I'm worried about two things.  First, I would like to find someone to take my place for babysitting. The family is so amazingly sweet; I don't want some ding-bat near my boys! (Yes, I typed ding-bat.)  Second, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY CUTE, SWEET CAT?  How much does it cost to ship my baby out to Chile? Or how traumatizing is it to fly her out here?  We've shared so many memories!

Christmas card worthy.
Who could say 'no' to that face... or that cat? Oh yes, I'm clever. Currently, I'm not that desperate to find permanent care for her, but the day is coming when I may resort to begging and bribes.  So, be prepared.

Lastly, I finished my first week of training for that half marathon supposedly I'm 'running' December.  This weather has restored my faith in Texas.  Running 6 miles tonight was actually nice... *Side note: any time I use the word 'run,' understand that means 'not walking.'  Do not be deceived!

Hi Katie! Just found your blog. Your cat and mine could be twins. I have no idea what it takes to bring a cat down here, but I think it depends on how long you plan on staying here. It could be complicated to look for an apartment if you already have a cat, unfortunately. And from what I've heard, it's pretty traumatizing for them, so if you're going to be here a short time it may not be worth it. On the other hand, she is super cute (obviously, if she looks like Charlie..haha) and I know I'd miss him so much if I had to be gone for a long time!!

Thanks, Abby! Good point about apartments! With as much uncertainty that lies in front of me, I can't see it working out at first. Plus, I don't want to psychologically damage her... Oh man, I feel like a crazy cat lady ! Perhaps our kitties are long lost cousins?? ;)
